Suffering from cramps? Try adding more cacao to your diet. Mood swings? A sweet-potato brownie can help with that. A happy mix of creativity, self-empowerment, and downright deliciousness, this wellness guide demystifies menstrual health, educating readers about their unique needs and helping them to deepen their self-care regimen. Best Cookbook Ever
I felt compelled to write a review to convey just how amazing this book is. Where to start?- It’s gorgeous – the photos and layout are poetic yet sensible. I had ordered the kindle version first and realized I had to have the print. So glad I did get the physical copy. It’s always within arms reach while in the kitchen or living room.- The recipes are 10/10! I’ve made probably 20ish dishes (ranging from breakfasts, lunches, dinners, desserts and beverages) and without exception every one has been a home run. My family (bunch o’ dudes!) love the meals and snacks.- Speaking on the recipes, the Vanilla Cacao elixir from the menstrual phase chapter is the only drink that has successfully lured me away from coffee. It is literally more satisfying, delicious and energizing, and I’ve never been able to say that about any other coffee substitute attempt.- The information on the cycle phases is sooo interesting and practical. Lots of great tips / info from both a scientific, nutritional perspective as well as emotional and behavioral.- Everything is organized very well. It’s a pleasure to read and reread about each phase and all the tools / activities that are supportive. The two authors really made something special together. Highly recommended for any woman interested in optimizing her menstrual cycle and/or making some darn delicious and wholesome food!

Great recipes
I have enjoyed making the recipes in the book. They are easy and not something I would normally make. I also like that they use some healthier ingredients. If I can’t find the healthier ingredients (such as liquid aminos), I just use what it was meant to replace (soy sauce for liquid aminos). I’m not sure if it has helped my cycle at all but the food has been good and I like the information on what food to eat when. That way, I can incorporate those ingredients into other dishes.

Wonderful Cookbook!
I’ve popped in and out of this book to try some recipes before I committed to reading it. But going through and seeing the intention and love that’s in every recipe is so wonderful. As a doula and womb priestess, this is an excellent tool to have in my arsenal! And the recipes are yummy too! I’ve been craving the beet and sweet potato breakfast hash lol.

This is what I was looking for!
I ordered a couple of books on hormone balancing/understanding your cycle recently, and this one is by far the best. I’ve already sent it as a gift to two friends – that’s how much I love it. So many “women’s health” books are full of scaremongering nonsense and judgement, and make you feel like there is a massive conspiracy by the patriarchy to squash you as a woman and pump you full of chemicals and “toxins” to some nefarious end. In contrast, this book feels warm, informative, and overall actually POSITIVE about being a woman and having natural rhythms and cycles.First of all, this book doesn’t make any ridiculous pseudoscience-y health claims, and it’s co-written by an actually qualified nutritionist who makes a concerted and appropriate effort to note the limitations and scope of the book. They make a point to say that you don’t have to be dairy-free, or gluten-free, or plant-based, or any other prescriptive type diet, and they emphasize that everyone is different and has different needs and preferences. Some of the recipes include meat, or dairy, or grains, and there’s no “position” on the goodness or badness of any type of food.Second, the general overview of what happens during each phase of your cycle is informative without being overwhelming. I got just enough information (delivered in science-based, neutral terms) to make me feel like I had a better understanding of each phase, but not so much that it lost my interest or overwhelmed me, or took away from the recipe and food content.Third, there are some really sweet inclusions of ritual suggestions, ideas for what to focus on during each phase, and encouraging language around accepting and being kind to yourself. I was surprised how much I liked this part of the book.Lastly, the recipes are REALLY GOOD. I honestly wasn’t expecting them to be so tasty! There is a very wide variety of dishes and flavors, and they range from sweet desserts (the hazelnut brownies are DELICIOUS) to meat and seafood dishes (salmon cakes and sweet potato beef bites). They’re not too complicated and I didn’t need to buy a bunch of weird expensive hippie ingredients to make them.If you’re looking for a gentle, basic overview of learning and cooking/eating according to your cycle, BUY THIS BOOK. Buy it for your friend going off birth control, your friend weaning her baby, your young friend who just got her period, ANYONE who is interested in hormones and learning more about how your system works. It’s really fantastic.

I am an herbalist in training. This book is not just recipes. Its to gain a deeper understanding of ones self. In addition to the recipes there are rituals and little nuggets of wisdom peppered throughout. The recipes are easy with most having only 4 steps or even less. The book is smaller than other recipe books which is nice.Something for everyone here, with vegan/vegetarian friendly recipes as well. They have dairy free gluten free recipes as well. Recommending this to everyone I know! Would make a great gift.

What a special book this is! Not only is it filled with incredible recipes but it is packed with easy to digest information and wisdom on being a woman, rituals for your cycle and what’s actually going on in your body each month.I particularly enjoyed the little blurbs above each recipe that detail why the ingredients in the recipe below benefit your body at that time in your cycle.Wonderful book. I have already ordered another for a friend.
